Sweet Dreams

Easton & I had a pretty rough ending to our evening because he was exhausted...so to walk in and see his sweet Angelic face makes all of the hard stuff worth it.

Sweet dreams baby boy...your Mama loves you more than you will ever know.

Visiting my Dad

Easton & I had a pretty relaxing day, (until about 20 minutes ago) I cleaned house, he played, then we made chocolate chip cookies and took a bunch to my Dad and some to Miss Martha. My Dad ate 5 while we were sitting there!

He was moved to a more longterm room this past week. I was able to bring him the flat screen TV my brother bought him, and he has a recliner. It all seems to have made him more settled. He even gained some weight these past 2 weeks. Phew!

I want to get as many pictures as I can of Easton and his Grandpa Rod so he will always have them! That is DEFINITELY something I wish I had more of myself! My Dad's dad was gone before I was born, and My Mom's Dad died when I was a teenager.

Aren't they so darned cute?!

Hiking with the Hardesty's

We have had some bizarre weather, not completely unusual in CO, but man, I am really ready for summer! Anyhoo, Friday night Easton received in the mail a pair of binoculars from a dear friend BJ, she has ordered a magazine for Easton called "In Your Backyard" a magazine geared towards younger kiddo's from the Ranger Rick series...part of the subscription were these binoculars, and boy was he excited!! THANKS BEEJ!!!! So, back to Friday night...I thought, if the weather is descent tomorrow, perhaps we could go hiking?!?! I called my friend Esther and she & her boys thought that would be fun, and it was!! We headed out to Castlewood Canyon, had lunch and sure enough, HIKED! Easton & the boys did great! This was Easton's 2nd official hiking trip. I think this will be a new fun past time for he & I!

New friends

My Dad has been in a nursing home for 3 weeks tomorrow. It has been a huge change for both of us, but mostly for him. I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to have everything you were used to suddenly and abruptly taken away with probably no chance of going back to what has been normal for him for years. Although he did not have the healthiest of habits, I still feel horrible that he doesn't really have a say in his "new normal". Getting used to a nursing home has taken a bit of time for me as well. Every time I visit Dad I do my best to smile at as many residents as I can...some if not most look so sad, it just breaks my heart. I have adopted one in particular. Her name is Martha...she has a daughter, but her daughter is in AZ and apparently she has not had a visit in 6 years...6 YEARS! That is just not okay! So, she is our new friend. Easton hugs her every time he sees her...( I LOVE that he has no prejudices...makes his Mommy so proud!) So, tonight after visiting Dad, we of course had to go see Martha, and that sweet lady had a present waiting for Easton...meet Cinnamon

Easton has never been much of a stuffed animal type of a kid, yet it seems he had discernment that because this was so special to Martha,it was special to him...he has not put the bear down since he got it.

I pray I can be as open and as unconditionally loving as my son...what a blessing!

Happy Easter! 2010

What a B...E...A...Utiful day it was!! I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jan and Brie and their families...we did a big Easter egg hunt at a local park. It turned out great! I made sure Easton understood the REAL meaning of Easter this year. I would randomly quiz him:
Me: Easton, why do we celebrate Easter?

Easton: cuz of Jesus

Me: What about Jesus?

Easton: He died for me...

Me: Good, don't forget he ROSE AGAIN!!

Both of us: YAY!!!!

Cuddling, cartoons, choclate chip pancakes & Cherry Creek reservoir!

Saturday morning was lazy and just wonderful! Hanging out with my little man is one of my favorite things to do! After cuddling I headed into the kitchen to make us some choclate chip pancakes...a few minutes later Easton wanders in to the kitchen buck naked, holding his testacle and says "Mommy, I think my pee pee is having a baby!" It took everything in me to not laugh, this kid says the darndest things! I told him we would talk about it when he got a little older, and praise God that was good enough for the moment....

After we took Grandpa Rod shopping, Easton and I met the Hardesty's out at Cherry Creek Reservoir so the boys could play in the sand and on the ice...yes, sand and ice. Weird, but that's Colorado for you and one of the many reason's I love it!
