New friends

My Dad has been in a nursing home for 3 weeks tomorrow. It has been a huge change for both of us, but mostly for him. I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to have everything you were used to suddenly and abruptly taken away with probably no chance of going back to what has been normal for him for years. Although he did not have the healthiest of habits, I still feel horrible that he doesn't really have a say in his "new normal". Getting used to a nursing home has taken a bit of time for me as well. Every time I visit Dad I do my best to smile at as many residents as I can...some if not most look so sad, it just breaks my heart. I have adopted one in particular. Her name is Martha...she has a daughter, but her daughter is in AZ and apparently she has not had a visit in 6 years...6 YEARS! That is just not okay! So, she is our new friend. Easton hugs her every time he sees her...( I LOVE that he has no prejudices...makes his Mommy so proud!) So, tonight after visiting Dad, we of course had to go see Martha, and that sweet lady had a present waiting for Easton...meet Cinnamon

Easton has never been much of a stuffed animal type of a kid, yet it seems he had discernment that because this was so special to Martha,it was special to him...he has not put the bear down since he got it.

I pray I can be as open and as unconditionally loving as my son...what a blessing!
